Welcome to Indian Commerce Association (ICA)

"The advancement of commerce education and research is fundamental to informed economic development and national progress."

Established 1947

The Indian Commerce Association (ICA) was established in 1947, on the eve of India's Independence, with the objective of providing a national platform for academic discussion and scholarly deliberation in the fields of commerce, economics, business, and management. Founded by eminent academicians and industrialists, the Association has since played a significant role in promoting teaching, research, and professional interaction among scholars, researchers, and practitioners across India.

A central activity of the Association is the organization of the All India Commerce Conference, which has been conducted annually and without interruption since its inception. Hosted by universities and higher education institutions across the country, the Conference facilitates the presentation of research papers, exchange of ideas, and deliberation on contemporary issues relating to trade, industry, finance, management, and economic policy. The Conference has emerged as one of the most important national academic forums in the field of commerce.

The Indian Commerce Association also contributes to academic scholarship through its flagship publication, The Indian Journal of Commerce, which has been published continuously since 1947. As a UGC CARE–listed quarterly journal, it provides a peer-reviewed platform for high-quality theoretical, empirical, and interdisciplinary research in commerce and management, thereby strengthening research standards and academic rigor.

In recognition of its sustained academic contribution and national presence, the Indian Commerce Association has been allotted 1,000 square metres of institutional land at Plot No. 33B, Knowledge Park-I, Greater Noida, District Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh (Delhi-NCR). This institutional development reflects the Association’s long-term commitment to strengthening its academic and administrative infrastructure.

The Association also promotes academic excellence through awards and recognitions, including the “Academic of the Year Award,” which is conferred upon distinguished academicians for their outstanding contributions to teaching, research, publication, and academic leadership in the field of commerce and management. Through its conferences, publications, awards, and institutional initiatives, the Indian Commerce Association continues to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of commerce education and research in India.
